In order to ensure students are optimally benefitting from their enrollment at Math Project’s high school courses, parents are required to read and sign the following homework policies BEFORE their child’s first session in the new course. High school students must abide by the following policies:

• Students are expected to complete the assigned homework on time and to the best of their abilities. They must show steps and follow the instructor’s guidelines.
• Homework completion entails attempting each and every question in the assigned worksheet or exercise by the instructor unless specified otherwise by the instructor. Even if the concept is not so clear, the student must try to attempt using the examples provided in class. Failure to so is deemed incomplete homework.
• If a student is absent from a session due to any reason, the homework will still be due by the deadline. The deadline would only be extended with a reasonable documentary evidence, such as, a doctor’s note, boarding pass, etc. It will be the student’s responsibility to self-learn the content from the skipped session or parents could contact Math Project for an extra one-on-one session, offered at additional costs.
• The instructors inform the students about the weekly homework due within the first hour of the Math Project session. It is the student’s responsibility to work with the instructor during the session to develop clarity of homework concepts.
• The student must let the instructor or Math Project administration know during the session if he or she is struggling with a concept and does not feel prepared to do the assigned homework.
• Academic integrity is an essential component to student learning. Students are expected to submit original work for all evaluations and are responsible for ensuring that issues of plagiarism, cheating, copying, etc. are avoided at all costs.
• In the event that a student is unable to complete the assigned homework, it is the student’s responsibility to provide a hand-written note from a parent providing justification with documentation in order to avoid fines or penalties. A text message, a phone call or an email from a parent are not acceptable.
• Students must ensure that they receive Crowdmark links to submit the assigned work from the instructor before leaving the session.
• The students must submit their homework on the same day as the session by midnight (i.e. Saturday).
• While all students are encouraged to submit their homework on time, Math Project administration allows high school students a three-day grace period keeping in mind their school workload and other important commitments. As such, the complete homework submission via Crowdmark is due no later than midnight on Tuesday following the Math Project session.
• In case of technical difficulties with Crowdmark, the homework must be emailed to the instructor (ensuring to CC Math Project administration and parents in the email) by the aforementioned deadline.

Failure to complete and submit homework on time or in an acceptable condition will lead to a $50 fine per late or incomplete submission (up to a maximum of $50 per week). Math Project will donate all fines to Mississauga Food Bank. Before the start of the course, a $200 security deposit is required by check, payable to Math Project, which will be refunded to parents at the end of the term after deducting any fines incurred.
